Ras Dashen takes its name from the highest mountain in Ethiopia — and the fourth highest in Africa — standing tall at 4,533 meters (14,872 feet) in the Simien Mountains National Park.
Just like the mountain, our restaurant rises above with proud tradition, bold flavor, and warm Ethiopian hospitality.
Our goal is simple: to share the heart of Ethiopia with Seattle through food, culture, and community.
Melkam Megeb — Bon Appétit!
Nestled at the intersection of East Cherry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Ras Dashen Ethiopian Cuisine & Bar is known for its welcoming atmosphere, colorful woven décor, and friendly service. We create a true taste of Ethiopia — right here in Seattle.
Our menu celebrates the diversity of Ethiopian cooking. From rich, slow-simmered stews to flavorful vegetarian dishes, each recipe is prepared with a distinctive blend of Ethiopian spices and fresh local ingredients.
The foundation of every meal is injera, a soft, tangy flatbread made from ancient teff grain.
You’ll also find millet, sorghum, and wheat among our traditional staples — each giving depth and authenticity to our cuisine.
We also serve tej, Ethiopia’s legendary honey wine, crafted from the country’s ancient beekeeping tradition — sweet, aromatic, and unmistakably Ethiopian.
Ethiopian cuisine is more than food — it’s an experience of sharing. Meals are served family-style, inviting conversation, laughter, and connection.
At Ras Dashen, we bring that same spirit of togetherness to every guest who walks through our doors.
Whether you’re trying Ethiopian food for the first time or returning for a taste of home, we welcome you with open hearts and full plates.
Come savor authentic Ethiopian dishes, discover unique spices, and enjoy the warmth of traditional hospitality.
